Lower Beit Horon is a Levite city in the tribal region of Ephraim, on the border of the Binyamin region.

Currently identified as Beit 'Ur et-Tahta (Y. Aharoni).

• According to I Chronicles (7, 24), a remnant of the tribe of Ephraim built Lower Beit Horon. 
• It is told in the book of Joshua that enormous stones fell from the sky at Lower Beit Horon during the war of the five southern kings against Yehoshua (Joshua 10, 10-11).
• In the days of King Shaul, Pelishtim (Philistines) made their way to the area of Lower Beit Horon (I Samuel 13, 18).
• King Shlomo conducted building projects in Lower Beit Horon (I Kings 9, 17; II Chronicles 8, 5).
• Soldiers from the Kingdom of Israel killed men of Yehuda at Lower Beit Horon during the reign of Amatzya, King of Yehuda (II Chronicles 25, 13).
