Summary
Meidva is a city in the territory of Moav.
Currently identified with the village of Madeba, south of Rabbat Ammon (Y. Aharoni).
- When King Sihon of the Amorites went to war against Bnei Yisrael, Bnei Yisrael conquered Meidva from him (Numbers 21, 30).
- During the reign of King David, a battle raged between Israel and the Ammonites (along with their hired mercenary troops from Aram) at the entrance to Meidva (I Chronicles 19, 7).
- In the days of Yeshayahu Meidva was a Moabite city (Isaiah 15, 2).
