- King Shaul erected a monument for himself at Carmel after his victory over Amalek, before he was ominously met by the prophet Shmuel (I Samuel 15, 12).
- Naval stayed in Carmel when he had business there, and David's messengers came to Carmel only to be insulted and turned away by Naval. His wife, Avigayil, set out from Carmel to appease David in time to prevent bloodshed (I Samuel 25, 2-42).
