Beit Shean is a city in the territory of the tribe of Menashe, on the eastern side of the valley of Yizrael (Jezreel Valley).

Identified as Tel Beit Shean (Tel el-Husn), adjacent to the Arab town of Baysan which preserves the biblical name of  Beit Shean (Y. Aharoni).

• Beit Shean is where the Philistines hanged Shaul (I Samuel 31, 10-12).
• Beit Shean is one of the cities under the jurisdiction of Baana ben Ahilud, one of King  Shlomo’s district officers (I Kings 4,12).
