  • King Yeravam ben Yoash conquered Hamat (II Kings 14, 28).
  • The King of Ashur (Assyria) exiled the residents of Hamat to Samaria (II Kings 17, 24; II Kings 17, 30; II Kings 18, 34; II Kings 19, 1; Isaiah 10, 9; Isaiah 36, 19; Isaiah 37, 13).
  • The prophet Yeshayahu prophesied that the people of Yehuda who were exiled to Hamat would return  to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 11, 11).
  • The prophet Yehezkel listed Hamat as part of the northern border of the Land of Israel (Ezekiel 47, 17).
