Gerar is a city and region on the southern border of Eretz Yisrael.

Currently identified with Tel Haror (Y. Aharoni).

In the days of the forefathers, the king of Gerar was called Avimelekh (Genesis 20, 1-18; Genesis 26 1-26).
 
King Asa of Yehuda fought against the people of Kush at Gerar (II Chronicles 14, 12-13).
