Gerar is a city and region in the southernmost part of the Land of Israel.

Currently identified with Tel Gamma (Adams and Petrie).

• In the days of the forefathers, the king of Gerar was called Avimelekh (Genesis 20, 1-18; Genesis 26 1-26).
• King Asa of Yehuda fought against the people of Cush at Gerar (II Chronicles 14, 12-13).
