Gerar is a city and district in the southern part of the Land of Israel.

Currently identified with Halutza (R. Saadia; J.M. Grintz).

• During the time of the forefathers, Gerar's king was called Avimelekh (Genesis 20, 1-18; Genesis 26, 1-26).
• King Asa of Yehuda fought against the people of Cush at Gerar (II Chronicles 14, 12-13).
