A city in northern Shomron (Samaria), in the territory of Menashe.

Identified with the location of Tel Dothan by the fourteenth century eponymous Rabbi Ashtori HaParhi.

• Yosef's brothers threw him in a pit at Dotan (Genesis 37, 17-24).
• Elisha was in Dotan when the King of Aram was looking for him (II Kings 6, 13).
